Advantages of combi boilers
Combi boilers are ideal because they give both instant hot water and central heating at the same time. Mainly they work for hot water, which basically means when the hot water is being used, the radiators will not be fed. A combi boiler is ideal in small properties where there is not too much need for a lot of hot water. For houses with more than one bathroom they are not really recommended.
Some combi boilers are different to others. Some actually store a small amount of water and is used first when the hot water is needed. Others do not store any water and so means the cold water may have to be run for a little while before it heats up. Anything above a 28KW output is highly recommended as a lower output may not give constant hot water.
Positioning your combi boiler in the correct place is essential. Ideally it should be fitted close to the taps, so ensuring the water is hot and doesn’t have a long way to travel before reaching the taps. A great feature of these boilers is the fact that you do not need to have any tanks for them to work and they are very easy to install.
One of the only negatives about combi boilers is the fact that they are not easy to repair if anything should go wrong with them. Many installers choose to replace the complete unit if they develop a problem that cannot be easily fixed. Getting various quotes is always recommended to make sure you get the best deal. Some installers may be able to fix it and this will save replacing the whole unit.
