Specialist Central Heating Systems

Choosing the ideal central heating system

A central heating system is now generally a required item when purchasing a new home. They are no longer considered a luxury item as they have become very much more affordable. In fact, the combi boiler has made central heating not just affordable but easy to install also. Most houses now have it installed and just relying on a coal fire to heat the house in now rapidly becoming a thing of the past.

Central heating is not a new invention though; it dates back to ancient Greece when heated air was circulated through special flues in the floor. Of course, the systems today are nothing like they used to be. They are used to provide instant hot water and to heat radiators placed in every room of the house. Combi boilers provide instant hot water but conventional heating systems may take a little while for the water to heat up.

Other than saving money by choosing the most efficient and effective central heating system, there are other ways to save energy and keep the costs down. Insulation is a major factor in preventing unnecessary heat loss. You should make sure you insulate your ceilings, walls and sometimes if possible even your floors. Statistics have shown that a fully insulated home can save more than $200 per year.

Other ways to prevent unnecessary heat loss and maintain your central heating systems runs to its optimal capacity, are to seal any draughts that you may have. These mainly are found around doors and windows and are easy to seal. Other ways are to only use the heating system when you do actually need it. Using the system sparingly and maybe only heating certain places in the house at a time will ensure that your bills are kept to a minimum.
